We have the Winners!

The dictionary defines winner as the following: Winner (noun win·ner  \ ˈwi-nər \)

  • a person or team that wins something,
  • one that is successful especially through praiseworthy ability and hard work,
  • a victor, one that wins admiration.

An example of a Winner is given in the Presentation of this year’s BEST OF INDUSTRY AWARD of the Machine Market (#MMBOI2018): “And the winner in the Category Additive Manufacturing is Multiphoton Optics GmbH in Würzburg, Germany. Home Run, and the crowd goes wild.” The happiness of all winners is reflected off their faces, congrats to the winners of all categories.

It is just like that in the dictionary, look it up! Yes, this year Multiphoton Optics GmbH was awarded the Machine Market’s Best Of Industry Award in the Category of Additive Manufacturing – Next Generation Optics Production.

The high tech startup Multiphoton Optics GmbH, Würzburg, Germany, initiator of the initiative “We start Würzburg Valley“, raises the bar with its High Precision 3D Printer LithoProf3D® in additive manufacturing for Production 4.0. Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is transferred to a new dimension via Multiphoton Optics’ High Precision Printer Platform LithoProf3D®. Beside the company’s already well-known microoptics which are fabricated with high throughput and highest precision for a large variety of applications – from illumination via imaging to augmented reality – the modularity of the LithoProf3D® was in the focus of the product development.

The intelligent machine concept is accompanied by a likewise modular software concept which provides machine codes with implemented process strategies which can significantly vary dependent on the application. The complete high precision 3D printing process is stored in the code. LithoProf3D® runs simple 3D structuring processes and sophisticated process sequences with different process strategies – high precision 3D printing from sub-µm to the centimeter scale for discrete optical components or monolithically integrated optics. For the latter, no assembly of components or post-processing of the optical surfaces is necessary, thus providing cost- and resource-efficient manufacturing.

Dear customers, partners and friends,

2017 was an exciting and successful year for Multiphoton Optics GmbH.

We attended seven major exhibitions and many conferences and workshops all over the globe demonstrating industrial throughput, scalability, and cost-down processes using our High Precision 3D Printing Platform LithoProf3D® with a large variety of different materials and precision on demand. Particularly its capability to be part of standard process workflows has been shown in many customer’s projects. This year, we were Prism Award nominee for the second time, and we have received the High Tech Gründerfonds and Fraunhofer Gründerpreis. Our customer’s requirements have challenged us continuously, often making the impossible possible. Sometimes physics strikes back, but our excellent team often finds its way to overcome obstacles and to support our customers in their sophisticated product ideas, for example using our IFoV technology.

With some examples of a Best of 2017, our small but continuously growing MPO team would like to thank you for your trust and support. We hope you enjoyed this year – both professionally and privately – and we wish you Merry Christmas and Happy and Healthy New Year!

Some examples … Best of 2017

Always a step ahead.

Just4Fun – Würzburg, July 12, 2017. To demonstrate the capability of Multiphoton Optics’ High Precision 3D Printing Platform LithoProf3D®, the company’s CTO, Dr. Benedikt Stender, did some quick experiments just for fun by fabricating stacks of microstructures. The stacks resemble endoscope optics, consisting of five different individual freeform lenses and other structures, i.e. ten differently shaped surfaces in total. The diameters of the stacks are 100, 200, 300, and 400 µm, fabricated with Multiphoton Optics’ LithoProf3D® as fast as in 5 minutes (diameter 100 µm) to 100 minutes (diameter 400 µm) in one fabrication step. The medium sized structures were fabricated in 20 and 50 minutes, respectively. The height of the largest structure is about 960 µm. No supporting structures are necessary, and mounting of the elements is intrinsically provided by Multiphoton Optics’ technology. There is still a way to go, and our racing team is highly motivated to support our customers with equipment, software, and prototyping and engineering support. Always a step ahead. Fraunhofer ISC Spin-Off Multiphoton Optics GmbH booth at IEEE-NEMS 2016 conference in Matsushima. Two Photon Adsorption process cross-links material in the focal point of laser beams and so creates 3D optical structures for future communication devices!
